Kermit’s Kin

I had two little visitors last night. One lives on my wreath. He’s been here for about two weeks. Can you see him?

Here’s a better picture. Poor lil’ guy. He only has one eye. But he’s as cute as a button! He’s actually about the size of a button.

My other visitor wasn’t so tiny and cute.  Blechh! He’s a baddie!

I had to learn to live with the Frogs and Toads when I moved to Florida. They are everywhere.

I’ve actually learned to like the little green tree frogs. They are very entertaining to watch.

I think they’re pretty neat. Except… when they make a mess on my windows…

And when they get inside the house.

Then there are the big bad tree frogs. Some of those big bad tree frogs actually eat my cute little green tree frogs. Did you know if you see a Cuban Tree Frog you are supposed to kill it? They are an invasive species. Now I ask you, how am I going to kill a big ol’ frog? Am I supposed to squash it with something and have frog guts go splattering all over? Heck No! Do you know how the powers that be want you to kill them? They want you to capture the frogs and put them in your freezer. Yep! They want you to make frogsicles. Well, hmmmphh… I am certainly not putting live frogs in my freezer. I don’t have the heart to kill many bugs, nevertheless a frog. Here’s a few of the baddies…

We’ve got other frogs too! We've got big ones…

And we’ve got teeny tiny ones that are no bigger than your fingertip.

We found this little guy hopping around the living room. He got under the couch and wrestled with a dust bunny! I’m not sure who won?

He’s so tiny it’s amazing we even spotted him.

And we’ve got toads.

This one’s a fatty!

But this tiny toadlet is ok in my book.

This one is just a little bit bigger.

And then we’ve got the weird looking ones.

I really don’t mind their visits anymore. They grow on you after a while. As long as they continue to eat the bad bugs that hang around, they are welcome anytime.

  1. I enjoyed this posting so much! I remember when I first moved to Florida having to learn to live with dragonflys swooping in and out and all around. That was fine until they swooped into my car! that made me hit the brakes! But of course, like you I soon learned to appreciate dragonflys and now that I've moved far far away from Ft. Walton Beach whenever I chance to see a dragonfly...I remember back. And smile!
Following along with you and so happy to have found you!

  2. They are so cute. Except for maybe the baddies. They have a look about them. I hear it is not easy being green.
