Happy Haunting at Downtown Disney

We got some trick or treating in early today at Downtown Disney. Dear Son dressed up as a ghoul. Unfortunately, someone left his costume where Liesl could get it. She didn’t want to give it back and ripped it in a few places. It was too late to fix for today, but I’ll see what I can do for tomorrow. Anyway… The boy looked creepy.

The atmosphere at Downtown Disney was very festive and it really felt like Halloween. It was crowded though. I’ve never seen so many people there.

Several stores and restaurants had trick or treat stations set up outside.

They had a DJ playing music and I think they might have had some contests, but we really didn’t do more than pass by. They also had a nice storyteller but I didn’t get any pictures.

I loved this guy’s costume. He was nice enough to pose for pictures with some of the kids. I’m assuming that people thought he was a Disney guy as he kinda got stuck, lol.

They had lots of decorations around for photo ops.

Disney did have their own ghouls prowling about… Pumpkin Heads.  We got a picture with two of them.

The guys were getting hungry so we didn’t go through the whole set up. We missed lots of good stuff, but there’s always next year.

Before we left we stopped in to get a Candy Apple to take home with us.

Everything looked sooo good.

The boy picked out a white chocolate apple with sprinkles.

Disney did a great job! Another evening of fun and magic.

Naughty Lizards

Everyday, Liesl waits at the window and watches for lizards.

The lizards like to play with her. They sit and stare at her while she cries and paws at the window. Sometimes they carry on with their pushups, pretending she isn’t there at all. Oddly enough, they aren’t afraid. Somehow, they know she isn’t a threat.

I’m quite sure those lizards know what they’re doing. They are very naughty lizards to tease her that way. One of these days there won’t be any glass in between them.

One of these days, Liesl will be flossing her teeth with one of their tails…

Kermit’s Kin

I had two little visitors last night. One lives on my wreath. He’s been here for about two weeks. Can you see him?

101_8259

Here’s a better picture. Poor lil’ guy. He only has one eye. But he’s as cute as a button! He’s actually about the size of a button.

101_8264

My other visitor wasn’t so tiny and cute.  Blechh! He’s a baddie!

101_8253

I had to learn to live with the Frogs and Toads when I moved to Florida. They are everywhere.

101_3567  101_3570

I’ve actually learned to like the little green tree frogs. They are very entertaining to watch.

101_2096 101_2242     101_3838

I think they’re pretty neat. Except… when they make a mess on my windows…

101_3257  101_3396

And when they get inside the house.

101_3284

Then there are the big bad tree frogs. Some of those big bad tree frogs actually eat my cute little green tree frogs. Did you know if you see a Cuban Tree Frog you are supposed to kill it? They are an invasive species. Now I ask you, how am I going to kill a big ol’ frog? Am I supposed to squash it with something and have frog guts go splattering all over? Heck No! Do you know how the powers that be want you to kill them? They want you to capture the frogs and put them in your freezer. Yep! They want you to make frogsicles. Well, hmmmphh… I am certainly not putting live frogs in my freezer. I don’t have the heart to kill many bugs, nevertheless a frog. Here’s a few of the baddies…

We’ve got other frogs too! We've got big ones…

100_8246 101_3846

And we’ve got teeny tiny ones that are no bigger than your fingertip.

100_9517

We found this little guy hopping around the living room. He got under the couch and wrestled with a dust bunny! I’m not sure who won?

101_3133

He’s so tiny it’s amazing we even spotted him.

101_3135

And we’ve got toads.

100_9581 100_9580

This one’s a fatty!

101_2326

101_3168

But this tiny toadlet is ok in my book.

101_3172

This one is just a little bit bigger.

101_4010

And then we’ve got the weird looking ones.

101_3375

I really don’t mind their visits anymore. They grow on you after a while. As long as they continue to eat the bad bugs that hang around, they are welcome anytime.
