John’s Pass

This afternoon we headed out to John’s Pass for some shopping and dinner. John’s Pass is a “turn of the century fishing village” at Madeira Beach which is famous for it’s boardwalk. It has tons of little shops, restaurants, and many opportunities for sightseeing cruises and fishing charters. You can also rent jet skis and go parasailing.

It’s a great place to go and watch the pelicans or spy for dolphins.

That’s the pass! It was neat to watch the drawbridge open and close.

It is definitely a very touristy area. You can find tons of funny/risqué t-shirt shops and stores selling cheap and cheesy sea shell souvenirs.

But, there are a few very nice shops sprinkled amongst the tourist traps.

One of my favorites is the puppet store. The very nice man who runs the shop caters to teachers and ministries, so the puppets are actually very affordable.

The little guy was hungry for crab legs, so we had dinner at The Friendly Fisherman Restaurant.

The food was decent. Dear Son enjoyed his Gator Bites, Crab Legs and Corn Fritters.

It was a nice afternoon out… And you just know I didn’t come home empty handed.  I made my husband… buy me a puppet.

I don’t have a clue as to where I’m going to put it, but I just had to have it. It is soooo me  :)

  3. Very nice area indeed. We vacationed there summer before last. We loved that area! I am wearing The Conch Republic tee shirt right now from North Redington Beach. Had fun shopping in John's Pass. The spring break tees were very funny.
